Dia: I wouldn't call myself a natural singer, to be honest. I just started kinda yodeling, I mean, in and out of my chest and falsetto voice. Then I kind of practiced pinning down notes and so forth, and it took a long time and a lot of practice.

Meg: It was by accident, you know. I don't feel like I was born to play guitar. I got my heart broken and I wanted to sing because that's what I heard people do.

Nick: I really got into like Green Day when I was around 14 and I really just loved the drumming in it, and so I sat down one day and I was like, I think I can do that. I sat at my dad's kit and I started playing along to Green Day, and now I'm here.

Dia: Meg got in a car accident and he (Nick) just happened to be a mechanic and we took our car to him... 'cause we always carried our little homemade CDs in our truck and we gave it to him and we got his contact info and then we just started messing around until we decided, hey, this is a really good drummer and we should start a band.

Dia: I think we can all, you know, while we're driving the van, have one CD going, nobody's going to be crying about it. None of us have the attitude oh my gosh I hate this band turn it off, I mean, it's this isn't my cup of tea but we respect what they're doing, you know, they're good musicians and it goes from there.

Meg: When I read a book, I get really emotional about it, I'm really touched. And then I create a song, I bring it to the band, and then Dia sometimes helps with some lyrics and everybody kind of adds their magic. And then we have a Meg & Dia song.

Interviewer: Does being Korean-American make a difference?

Dia: I don't think it's made it more difficult. I don't think it's made it more easy. It's just the same. And he's (Nick) American so it kind of evens it out. We're all family.

Interviewer: What is it like being a role model at such a young age?

Dia: I wasn't aware we were role models. If anybody looks up to us, for some odd reason, I would say it's nice.

Dia: Our follow-up to the single "Monster" is probably going to be "Roses". Basically, our plans for the next little while, we're probably gonna be doing a music video in a month or so and what we're gonna do with it we don't really know yet.
